West Ham hero has told friends he is leaving the club

It’s been quite the season for West Ham again in 2023/24.

Up until the turn of the year, the Hammers were in a reasonable position but their Premier League form has tailed off since January.

A 6-0 home drubbing by Arsenal saw thousands of Irons fans walk out of the London Stadium at half-time when they were already 4-0 down, and a recent 5-2 thumping at Crystal Palace only added to the club’s woes.

Getting to the Europa League quarter-finals, only to be denied by Bayer Leverkusen, has been a bright spot amongst the gloom, but it appears that manager, David Moyes, has now finally admitted defeat.

David Moyes will leave West Ham this summer

According to Football Insider sources, the Scot has privately admitted to friends that he will leave West Ham at the end of the current campaign.

It was believed that the club were happy enough with him pre-Arsenal to offer him a contract extension, however, the manner in which the Hammers were beaten by Mikel Arteta’s side appears to have been a real turning point.

In hindsight, the best time for Moyes to have gone would’ve been at the end of last season after the Europa Conference League final win.

David Moyes should’ve left West Ham after the Europa Conference League triumph

He could’ve left with his head held high and his reputation intact.

If West Ham were forward thinking enough too, they could’ve paid him off for the final year of his contract and gone in a new direction.

That they didn’t means that they’ve got to the end of yet another season and haven’t really progressed. It’s the same old, same old, year in and year out.

Now that it seems both manager and club believe that a parting of the ways is inevitable, the Hammers board have the perfect opportunity to bring in a bigger name that can really propel them forward on the pitch.

Someone who can bring back the ‘West Ham way’ that so many fans have sorely missed under the stale and boring football under Moyes.

  1. Thanks Moyesy for last seasons Europa league win! However you were lucky, you can’t be successful in the premier league playing low block football all season with a group of only 14 players YOU trust. To be successful you must have a plan B ,the other league sides soon sussed you out. When you lose or three players to injury you haven’t got any subs that have confidence because they hardly ever play. You should have brought in new players at Christmas and rotated the team.
Sad to watch West Ham these days playing hoping for a breakaway goal. Boring

  2. What is the West Ham Way now ?, recently saw Geoff Hurst on his tour, and someone mentioned the WHU way.
He said it doesn’t exist anymore and haven’t been like that since the 70s 80s teams of old when football was evolving so much . Mk

  3. All good things come to an end . And that end is now.
Thank you for the past Mr Moyes but now is the time to move on ….

  4. Such an “entitled” bunch of whingeing fans. “We’ll get a bigger manager who will propel us forward.” You had a good manager who had you up the league. If you sell your best players and don’t replace the knackered ones, you are where you are and deserve to be.
No manager in the country decides and executes transfer policy. One day you guys will get behind your managers.
