Manager Eddie Howe will want Willock completely free of the problem, and with his performances not as his usual standards, it’s felt the best decision was to end his season early.

He has been a big miss in the Newcastle midfield this season with Howe reportedly valuing his energy and ball carrying ability.

it’s not all doom and gloom for Howe as Elliot Anderson has returned to fitness to provide another option in midfield, while it’s hoped Joelinton will feature before the end of the season.

Willock has made 102 appearances for Newcastle scoring 15 goals and providing six assists.

Newcastle currently sit sixth, ahead of Manchester United on goal difference as they look to qualify for the Europa League, and a second consecutive European campaign with just six games remaining in the Premier League.
