Chelsea star does not want to return to London club once loan deal is over

Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga is eyeing a permanent move to Real Madrid next summer as the 29-year-old does not want to return to the Premier League club.

The Spanish goalkeeper’s time at Stamford Bridge was up and down under several managers and this summer gave him the chance to leave the club to join Real Madrid.

The Chelsea loanee is filling in for the injured Thibaut Courtois and has started every game for Los Blancos this season.

It has been a positive start to life in Madrid for Kepa and the goalkeeper hopes to stay at the club beyond this season.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Madrid’s midweek trip to Sporting Braga, Kepa has said about his future via the Daily Mail: “I’d say it has been a very positive two months.

“We’ve started the season well and it’s a long season, but we’re on the right path. So, I’d say it has been a positive start, but I know any grade for my performances this season will be given at the end of the campaign.

“I said it then and I still hope to stay. But, we haven’t spoken about that or negotiated anything yet. It’s only October and we’re focused on the busy schedule.”

Kepa’s loan deal with Real Madrid ends next summer and it is uncertain as of now whether the goalkeeper is seeking a permanent deal at the La Liga giants or another loan.

The Spain international’s contract at Chelsea expires in 2025, therefore, next summer would be the ideal time for the London club to sell the 29-year-old.

The Spaniard will also be the number two in Madrid next season as Courtois will have returned by then and that may be something the shot-stopper doesn’t want.
