22-year-old Chelsea full-back Ian Maatsen is being pursued by German giants Bayern Munich.

The German giants believe the Chelsea full-back would be a perfect match for them as they search for a possible Alphonso Davies successor.
The summer of 2025 marks the expiration of Davies’ Bayern contract. Despite their best efforts, the player does not appear to be interested in staying with the team.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have identified Davies as their defensive signing for the summer transfer window and most of the time, Los Blancos get their wish in the transfer market.
With Davies, who is one of Bayern’s most important players, likely to leave the club, they are looking at left-back options in the transfer market.
Chelsea defender has enjoyed a successful loan spell in Germany
Maatsen of Chelsea is one of their objectives. Bayern are interested in the young defender who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
In the summer of 2023, he was elevated to their first team following an outstanding loan stint at Burnley the previous season.
In order to provide him playing him, the Blues loaned him out to Dortmund in January this year.
Since then, Maatsen has made 12 appearances and has even assisted on three goals.
In his brief time in Germany, he has showed a lot of potential, and Bayern believe he might fill the void that Davies’ departure could leave.
Chelsea could cash in on Maatsen
With two years remaining on his contract, the Dutch youth international will rejoin his parent club in the summer.
Maatsen’s Chelsea contract contains a £35 million release clause, which might result in his departure.
