Tony Bellew wants Man City relegated to the Conference as he takes aim at EPL

News of a points deduction for Nottingham Forest because of issues with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, but still no action against Man City, has sent Everton fan and boxing legend, Tony Bellew, over the edge.

The Toffees have also fallen foul of the PSR rules and had 10 points deducted which was reduced to six on appeal, however, they are awaiting the outcome of another investigation and the possibility of another deduction which would almost certainly put them back down into the relegation places.

Bellew doesn’t appear to be the only fan that can’t comprehend how his club and Forest can be dealt with so swiftly, when City, who have over 100 charges against them, can seemingly string things out for years, making life even more difficult for all concerned.

Tony Bellew’s rant at Man City

“You’ve got a team in Manchester City who have had more charges than I can possibly think of, and there’s no charges coming to them,” he said on talkSPORT.

“It’s an absolute disgrace and then Nottingham Forest, who have done far worse than us (Everton) but get less of a points deduction.

“It doesn’t make any sense. The Premier League are not doing anything right and they’re destroying football, single-handedly.

“It’s just so difficult. We could take another points deduction and where’s the justice in that?

“If they did take another two points off us – that’s eight [points]. You’ve taken four off Forest who have got more [charges] than us.”

The strength of his words will surely resonate with many a football fan.

Though there’s no denying that Man City have arguably the best squad in world football, if players have been acquired thanks to a massaging of the rules by the powers that be, then the footballing authorities need to address the issues in a timely fashion.

Given the financial status of the clubs involved too, there’s an argument to suggest that if any deserve a stay of execution, it’s Everton and Forest. Not that it’s a consideration for the FA and Premier League.

  1. Forest got 6 points same as Everton but had a 2 point reduction for early acceptance and co-operation.
A bit less whining and who knows what might happen.

  2. Can you imagine City in the National League, they would bring in the best players that they could and climb through the leagues. They would still keep their fan base and the sponsors would clammer to get on board, plus every club that they play against would fill their grounds. It would be a marketing dream as City rise from the ashes.

  3. hes been hit too many times, he obviously can’t comprehend sensible thought process, Man City have not been charged with the same offence, and didn’t plead guilty, its like saying fraud and murder are the same crime …better stick to eating locusts mate

  4. Proof that boxing can seriously damage your brain if any was needed. No point in explaining to him – he wouldn’t understand – time to ban boxing.
