‘Nightmare for ten Hag’ – Jamie Carragher has a warning for Man United manager

Jamie Carragher thinks the outcome of Sunday’s exciting FA Cup matchup between Manchester United and Liverpool will have a big impact on Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.

The Dutch manager is facing an uncertain future at the club with reports in the media linking a new manager to the Old Trafford job on a daily basis.

ten Hag has failed to deliver at Man United this season with the Red Devils facing humiliation in the Champions League and the Premier League.

ten Hag can make a statement by winning the FA Cup with Man United

Carragher believes he has a chance to turn his season around on Sunday as Man United get ready to face Liverpool at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.

The first of two matches between United and Liverpool at Old Trafford in three weeks takes place on Sunday. On April 7, Jurgen Klopp’s very successful team will make the short trip to Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The performance of United in both games, especially on Sunday, according to former Liverpool defender Carragher, will have a significant impact on Ten Hag’s future at United.

In his Telegraph column, Carragher wrote:

“It will be clearer by Sunday night if Sir Jim Ratcliffe is green-lighting or pausing the hunt for an alternative to Ten Hag to spearhead another rebuilding process.

“Given his situation, there are many who will argue the FA Cup quarter-final draw is a nightmare for Ten Hag. It could go the other way. Rather than seeing peril when facing Liverpool, he should be relishing a golden opportunity.

“A positive result can help shift the perception of him. If he goes on to win the FA Cup, perspectives of this season will radically change, especially given the calibre of opponents still in the competition.”

It’s time for Man United to stand up to Liverpool

Man United are currently in sixth place in the league and qualification to the Champions League next season is looking highly unlikely.

The club’s only chance to win a trophy this season is in the FA Cup and to achieve that, they have to knock out Liverpool.

New Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe mentioned last month how he wants his team to knock Liverpool and Manchester City off the top spot in English football, on Sunday, they have the perfect chance to take the first step in doing that.
