Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out on a few of the signings he really wanted during his time in charge of the Red Devils, including Declan Rice, now at Arsenal, and Jude Bellingham.

Rice is clearly a player Solskjaer likes a lot, with the Norwegian telling The Overlap in the video below that he could see the England international giving his Man Utd side the kind of legs they needed in midfield.

One imagines a deal wouldn’t have been impossible if United had gone for it as Rice spent a long time at West Ham before eventually earning a big move to Arsenal last summer.

Meanwhile, watch below as Solskjaer also reveals that he brought a long list of club legends to the training ground to try to convince Jude Bellingham to join when he was still at Birmingham City…

Bellingham, however, made it clear he had a certain amount of playing time in mind for his next move, and it seems that led him to join Borussia Dortmund instead.

The 20-year-old, who was 17 when he spoke with United, has clearly made a lot of smart career choices as he shone at Dortmund before earning his big move to Real Madrid last summer, and he’s continued to develop into a world class player at the Bernabeu.

It must be frustrating for United fans to hear about the talents they missed out on, but it’s interesting to see Roy Keane’s reaction in the video above as he insists Bellingham was never going to pick MUFC just because they had the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona there to meet him.

There’s more interesting stuff in this interview as Solskjaer also admits Cristiano Ronaldo’s return ended up being far from ideal.
