Man United prepared to allow talented 22-year-old to leave as part of summer clear out

Whether Erik ten Hag remains in charge at Man United or not, this summer is likely to see the sale of a number of first-team stars with young Facundo Pellestri expected to be amongst them.

The Red Devils have done well in the FA Cup but have struggled for consistency in the Premier League and other competitions during 2023/24.

Their form has picked up of late, however, it’s still nowhere close to the standards that the club set for itself, and that has to be a major source of concern for new part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the man now tasked with taking the football side of the business forward.

It’s clearly not going to be an overnight change as there are a lot of moving parts at the club that Sir Jim and his INEOS staff members have to get to grips with, but an overhaul of the squad has been long overdue.

Man United’s Facundo Pellestri

Dependant on whether ten Hag remains in the managerial hot-seat will largely dictate the targets that United aim for in the close season, though even the Dutchman will need to accept that his squad could look markedly different in six months time to what it does at present.

According to Football Insider (h/t Fichajes), Pellestri will be one of those players made available for sale.

Man United want more than £9m for Facundo Pellestri

Currently on loan at La Liga outfit Granada, it’s believed that the Red Devils will require a reasonable profit on their initial £9m outlay before allowing the Uruguayan to sign on the dotted line elsewhere.
