Daniel Farke was visibly annoyed last night despite Leeds win

Willy Gnonto showcased an exceptional performance last night, but the Leeds United attacker could have easily secured a hat-trick or more.

Despite settling for a brace, he left Daniel Farke annoyed at one point during the match. According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post on Wednesday, detailing events off-camera, Gnonto was outstanding, netting twice at the Liberty Stadium last night.

Gnonto’s first goal involved cutting inside and driving a left-footed shot into the near post, while his second came after a nice touch following a pass from Cree Summerville, before slotting the ball past Carl Rushworth into the far corner.

These goals bring Gnonto’s tally to five for the season in 28 games, with four of those goals coming since the turn of the year when he has been given a starting role. As a result, Dan James may face difficulty returning to the starting lineup.

The Evening Post report highlights moments where Gnonto left Farke annoyed and even angry. Despite his excellent performance, the speedy winger missed a glorious one-on-one chance in the first half, along with several other opportunities.

“Farke’s annoyance as Gnonto spurned a chance to make it 3-0 inside the opening 20 minutes. When it was 3-0, Farke then clapped his hands angrily after another missed opportunity. He wanted more.”

Certainly, Farke would have been pleased that Gnonto scored two goals, increasing his tally from just three beforehand. With his latest goals, Gnonto now has a total of seven goals for Leeds, accumulated over 52 appearances.
