Michael Dawson, the former Tottenham Hotspur defender, was highly impressed by Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott’s performance against Burnley at Anfield.

Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory over Burnley at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, bouncing back from their previous defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Harvey Elliott emerged as the star performer for Liverpool, making a significant impact after coming on for Trent Alexander-Arnold at half-time.

Elliott, who has versatility as both a winger and a central midfielder, provided the assist for Darwin Nunez’s brilliant header in the 79th minute.

The 20-year-old England Under-21 international was also instrumental in Liverpool’s second goal. Elliott displayed immense energy against Burnley and showcased excellent ball retention skills, earning praise from former Tottenham Hotspur player and Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson.

“I love watching him,” Dawson said.

“He comes in off different positions, he is off to the right, he ends up on the left, he ends up in positions where I can imagine Jurgen Klopp would be thinking, ‘No, stay in your position’.

“But he impacts the game, and he got his rewards.”

Liverpool’s quest for the Premier League title this season could indeed see players such as Harvey Elliott play a significant role. While he may not start every match, as evidenced against Burnley, his ability to make an impact off the bench is noteworthy.

Elliott has already demonstrated his value with three starts and 17 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season, contributing one goal and two assists in those games.
