Chelsea open to doing transfer deal with Premier League rivals following January talks

Chelsea reportedly remain open to allowing Conor Gallagher a potential transfer to Newcastle United following initial talks during January.

The England international could’ve joined the Magpies if Chelsea had managed to seal a transfer deal for Enzo Fernandez earlier in the window, according to Football Insider.

Newcastle now look set to continue monitoring Gallagher’s situation ahead of the summer, with Chelsea seemingly ready to allow the 22-year-old to move to a team who look like becoming a genuine top four rival.

This could be risky by the Blues, who will need to ensure their own big-spending revolution under Todd Boehly goes to plan, which seems far from guaranteed at the moment.

Conor Gallagher to Newcastle United?

As for Newcastle, it could be another major step for them in this project if they can bring in a talent like Gallagher, who looks to have enormous potential.

Although Gallagher hasn’t quite looked at his best at Stamford Bridge this season, he was a joy to watch whilst on loan at Crystal Palace last term.

Ben Jacobs has previously written in his exclusive CaughtOffside column about Gallagher’s asking price being around £35-40million.
