Leeds United are interested in signing the Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie before the January window closes.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, talks are progressing well between the two clubs, and McKennie is expected to join Leeds United on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Romano also claims that there is optimism now that the transfer will go through before the January window closes. Apparently, the two clubs have scheduled a new round of talks for Saturday and it remains to be seen whether they can secure the agreement later today.

The 24-year-old has been an important player for Juventus this season and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Leeds. The versatile midfielder can operate as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder, and even in wide areas. McKennie will add creativity and defensive cover to the Leeds midfield if he joins them.

The American International did reasonably well in the recently concluded World Cup and he will be determined to showcase his qualities in the Premier League now.

There is no doubt that the 24-year-old has the attributes to succeed in English football and Leeds will certainly benefit from his arrival.

The 24-year-old is entering his peak years and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience.

The opportunity to sign a player like him on loan with an option to buy is an attractive one and it is no surprise that Leeds are pushing to get the deal done. It would be an inexpensive addition in the short-term and it could help the Whites finish the season strongly.
